Mfix.dat files in 20.1.2

While going through the MFiX 20.1.2 user guide, it mentions editing an mfix.dat file for user defined reactions.

The “legacy_tutorials” use mfix.dat files, while the “tutorials” do not use mfix.dat files at all.

Are mfix.dat files obsolete in 20.1.2? Does the user create mfix.dat files manually, or is it automatically generated by the software? If they are obsolete, how does one specify species and reactions?

mfix.dat is the legacy file for user specified keywords,setups, reactions. Now, projectname.mfix file is used instead of mfix.dat (Note that MFiX will not bother if you change projectname.mfix to mfix.data, still can run in newest version!)
