We have reviewed a great number of literature studies employing MFiX for simulations, but unfortunately, no similar research topics have been identified so far. Therefore, we are unable to determine whether MFiX is suitable for such complex scenarios, which involve fractures (flow paths with widths significantly smaller than their lengths and heights, featuring rough and tortuous surfaces imported via STL), pores (which can be formed by particle packing or imported via STL), and a wide particle size distribution (leading to drastic variations in the ratio of CFD mesh size to particle diameter, potentially equal to or even smaller than the particles).
