Broken GUI communication with solver in recent versions when using hyperthreading

I have been advicing some new users of MFiX the past week. Both of them have experienced issues when running solver (only tested DMP), in the sense that the mpi instances of the solver starts and keep running, but nothing is updated inside the MFiX application. No progress of DT or NIT. I noticed this pattern today, and I think it is with the latest version 25.3, and maybe also the previous one. But when one of the users tried today with a fresh install of 25.1.2 (just after a fresh but “failing” 25.3), it worked just fine when also ticking the hyperthreading box in the solver widget.

I also know that both of these users have hyperthreading enabled (which is the default), while I have it disabled, and haven’t seen any of these issues, and so I assume this is related. Are there any changes in the solver or GUI after 25.1.2 that can cause this?

Thanks @kjetilbmoe for helping new users and for reporting this.

I wouldn’t expect hyperthreading to make a difference like this, but stranger things have happened. I’ll look into it when I get a chance.

Thanks. It might not be that big of a deal, but I thought I’d report it still. And always a little annoying when brand new issues appear during a demo for new users.

Sorry that I don’t have any other logs available, although I’m sure I can log something when trying this again on their computers, if it can be of help to you?
