Building DMP using system mpi, and running slower

Hi @cgw. Can it be that using the Linux HPC installation is why the nodeworks run dialog is somewhat broken now? I have tested with 25.1.2, 24.1.1 and 23.4.1, seems all produce the same error.

Hi @kjetilbmoe

  1. Note that this topic has been marked “Solved” - it’s best to create a new topic for unrelated questions. That makes it easier for us to keep track of which topics are still unsolved.

  2. It’s extremely unlikely that the HPC installation has anything to do with this. The only difference with that installation is that it skips installing prebuilt solvers, and omits MPI and compiler installation (we assume you have a working MPI and Fortran compiler on your HPC)

  3. Nodeworks questions should be posted on the Nodeworks forum. The head maintainer of Nodeworks is Justin Weber @onlyjus - he’s been quite busy lately but he should be able to help you.

Good luck!

Perhaps I spoke too soon. Nodeworks is adding the “Concurrent models” inputs to that dialog. It may be that the “solver error” message is changing the layout to something other than what Nodeworks expects, resulting in the messy overlapping widgets. There are two problems here - one is that Nodeworks is adding controls at the wrong location, two is that you are getting these solver errors. Do you know why the default solvers are failing? Did you rebuild them per the instructions after installing MFiX?

I’ll talk to Justin about how Nodeworks modifies this dialog and see if we can find an improvement.

Hi Charles,
so the solver errors are not the problem anymore, only for the Linux build, not the Linux-HPC. So you are right that this might belong to a new topic. I just added it here as it seems to belong to the “Linux-HPC”. And everything is built correctly.

I did already write a bug report in the Nodeworks forum, related to this: Run dialog errors/warning
