Could I ask if the chemical reaction coupled with the DEM model can be calculated in parallel on Windows?
Can it use SMP? Does it need to be executed on Linux. 
As far as I know, the computation of chemical reactions is not computed in parallel.
You can try on Windows with and without SMP enabled in the solver build and see if you notice any difference. DMP (distributed) parallel is not supported at all on Windows so if you want to use that, you need Linux.
