I want to simulate the process shown in the figure with MFIX. The liquid mixed with gas inject from the tube to the middle position behind the liquid level. The tank is filled with hot liquid steel. On top of the tank (above the red line), there is a layer which is composed of particles and liquid （here the liquid has high viscosity due to relative low temperature). We want to simulate the influence of injection process on the top layer as solid particles may be taken into the bottom.
I know VOF is more suitable for this process but Fluent’s DEM is poor. So i am wondering whether TFM-DEM can handle this. But TFM may can not handle the liquid steel mixed with gas in the tank as bubbles are fleeing from the top. Anyone has a good idea?
