STL file and MFiX file Aerolizer_1mm_share3.stl

Dr. Dietikar,
I did as you suggested and it started running. But as I mentioned before, it gave warning messages with solids. I created a Zip file and it is available at

I also got some screenshots and they are also in this folder.

Please let me know how to fix this issue with the solid and run it fully. I just want to get a first set of run.
I am also working on the 2-CAD files case and will upload when done creating another support case topic.
Please let me know if you can access the google drive files.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks and Regards,

What exactly have you changed? I only see you flipped the normals. You have not addressed issues 2 to 4 above. The stl file is not usable for CFD and you won’t be able to proceed before you fix it. If surfaces are not closed and you have fluid region on both sides of a facet, this won’t work. It also look like your inlet BCs in the z-direction should be in the x-direction. My suggestion is you start with the geometry in the 2021 Alfano paper, which doesn’t have any internal geometry and will be easier to mesh. You need to get familiar with the general setup on a simpler case before you can attempt to setup the case with internal geometry.

Dr. Dietiker,

Thank you. I will not use that stl file anymore since it has the defects.
Going forward, these two attached stl files will be used.
I will set up the model first using the device stl file only and if it works, I will then put this capsule stl file after checking it is closed.
Putting the capsule separately will also help later in specifying the rotation.
I will keep you posted.

I would not use the device only stl file either. The sieve/grid is going to be difficult to mesh and you still have an internal cylinder, which I don’t understand.

My recommendation is to start with the geometry in the 2021 Alfano paper (see below). Others can assist you if you want to pursue your route.

Dr. Dietiker,
I will try this first as you suggest.
I will try to generate a CAD .stl file for this and then proceed.
I will keep you posted and upload the MFiX file when done.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions.
Best Regards,

Dr. Dietiker,
I was able to develop the stl file for this cup-tube case based on the 2021 paper. I scaled it to mm and uploaded the stl file and the zipped file as well. I will try to set up the case and will need your help in this regard. Do I need to flip the normals? Kindly have a look at this stl file and let me know if everything looks ok to you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks and Best Regards,

Dr. Dietiker,

I am trying to generate another stl file with the hemispherical cup as a separate body. In the current stl file, they are together. I need to separate the hemispherical cup since the particles are in that region. I will keep you posted.

Thanks and Regards,
