Suitability of models for defluidization study

I am trying to create a study to compare a variety of de-aerator devices and am not sure how to choose a model. It is a granular flow problem but can transition back and forth between fluidized and close-packed states. The inter-particle interactions don’t seem to be very important right now.

I am thinking the PIC method is the best bet but wanted to ask the group for advice.

Thank you in advance,
Tim

DEM is a better choice if the particle number is less than 1million. If you have too many parties, try CGDEM.
