Three-dimensional fluidized bed (cylindrical)

Dear MFIX Development Team,

My name is Sergio González S., and I am working on a simulation of a fluidized bed reactor using MFIX 24.3. As part of my project, I am attempting to model the bed geometry to match the cylindrical shape of the reactor. However, as shown in the attached screenshot, the bed (highlighted in red) currently appears as a rectangular box, while the reactor itself is a gray cylinder.

I would like to inquire about the following:

  1. Configuring a Cylindrical Bed Shape:
  • Is it possible to define the bed geometry as a cylinder that matches the shape and dimensions of the reactor?
  • If so, could you provide guidance or steps on how to configure this.

A rectangular box is common in MFiX modeling. You can refer to the tutorials with 3D geometries, such as 3d spouted bed, 3d fluidized bed and so on.
