Trouble with using MFIX-Exa on macOS

Hi,

I’m trying to use MFIX-Exa on my macOS system. For my work, I’ll need to use a geometry similar to the ‘hopper’ geometry under benchmarks. So I decided to start by checking out the input files given under /benchmarks/07-hopper/.

‘Size0001’ runs with no issues but when I try to run ‘Size0008’, I get the following error:

When I try this on a linux system, there is no problem. I don’t know where the problem is coming from with macOS. Could someone help me with this?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum, THegde.

In general, MFIX-Exa is not supported on macOS or Windows because the development team’s focus is high-performance computing (HPC) platforms. Additionally, we do not have access to macOS systems so we are extremely limited in what assistance we can provide.

That said, because the smaller case runs and the bigger case crashes in the call to the initial iterations, you may be running out of resources. Check your ulimit settings as you may need to change the users limits of the system resources.

Thank you for your reply.

I just checked my ulimit settings and there seems to be no issue there (attached a screenshot below).

Also, I forgot to mention that I also ran the Size0008 case with the DEBUG executable and it works with no issue.

Thank you.
