What are the general steps to integate a new cohesive contact model into the original framework of DEM

I need to couple a cohesive contact model of DEM into the MFIX framework, what are the general steps to achieve this? Where can I go to learn the the DEM calculation framework of MFIX? I’d be pretty appreciated for your help.
