What is solids pressure?

Hello guys,

I have question about solids pressure P_S in the VTK output for 2D fluid bed. Does anyone know what it is and roughly how MFIX computes it? My result for P_S was pretty weird. It shows a high pressure band in the middle of the tube right above the bed. I’m not sure how to interpret it. I looked up in the manual key word section, but didn’t find any information about P_S there. Is there another documentation for all the key words?

You can find information about solids pressure in the “Summary of MFiX Equations” PDF (MFiX Documentation - Multiphase Flow Science Group at NETL) or in the solids_pressure_mod.f subroutine. For details on the derivation, you would need to go through literature on the kinetic theory of granular flow.
