Does mfix-pic support computing two-dimensional geometric models in its current version?

Dear MFIX Contributors,
I find that mfix-pic does not support computing two-dimensional geometric models in the current version. I wonder why?

The PIC formulation is inherently three-dimensional. You can set a thin 3D simulation, but you need at least 3 cells in each direction.
