In User manual 3.9 DEM initial conditions, it says that the volume fraction of Solid 1 should be changed, but in my GUI the option is greyed out. I try to edit it in Editor panel(ic_ep_s), but the mfx file is read only, could you please help to solve this problem?
Please attach your setup (Main menu> Submit bug report). Your screenshot suggests you are using a particle_input.csv file for Initial Conditions. This would explain why the volume fraction is greyed out. You should be able to override the csv file settings by checking the “Override values in particle input file” check box.
The “Override values” checkbox allows you to override velocities and temperatures that are specified in the particle input file. But you cannot override the volume fraction, as it is determined by the number of particles in the input file. You can limit the number of particles loaded from the file, which will change the initial solids volume fraction. But the “IC_EP_S” (Initial solids volume fraction) is only used if automatic particle generation is enabled - otherwise that value is ignored. Also note that the “0.2” displayed in the greyed-out box is not computed from the particle input file - it’s basically a meaningless number when particles are coming from a file.
