I’ve been working on a screw conveyor for some time, as shown in the picture. The boundary conditions are periodic, and the screw’s geometry strictly follows this periodicity (for each point in the stl mesh). However, I’m still observing edge effects with particles “jumping,” which occurs only for turns that touch the boundaries. In the image you can see an abnormaly high collision force for particles at the limit of the domain (the limits of the domain are thos of the transparent cylinder).
Do you have any insights into what could be causing this?
I’ve already tried modifying the stl, shifting it slightly, adjusting the boundaries, changing the time step, and tweaking the DEM parameters, but without success.I strongly suspect this is due to some numerical issue, but I can’t pinpoint which parameter might be causing it.
