Is it possible to simulate around 7E+8 particles in MFIX using MFIX-DEM approach. What is the maximum number of particles that can be simulated in MFIX-DEM algorithm.

It depends on the computational resources you have. You may be able to go up to 100 Million particles if you have access to hundreds of cores. However, if you are dealing with fairly small particles (say around 100 microns), the DEM time step will be prohibitive.
Your best bet is to use MFiX-PIC and lump real particles into a smaller number of parcels. MFiX-PIC is available in the 19.1 release.
