Restarting a CFD run with DEM particle_input.csv file

Hello,

I am trying to build a case where I simulated a CFD flow for 2 seconds with run_type=’new’. For the DEM model in this run, I used automatic particle generation with no DEM particles in the domain. After this portion, I am trying to initialize DEM particles using the particle_input.csv file (turning the automatic particle generation off) with run_type=’restart_1’ and ‘restart_2’. The simulation runs without any error, but no DEM particles are being introduced in the domain.

My main target is to develop a flow in the domain and then introduce the particle_input file. How should I solve this issue?

This is not a supported feature. The particle_input.csv file is used as an initial condition. You may be able to bypass this by modifying the code, but it may be numerically unstable to suddenly introduce particles. It will also take some time for the flow to adjust to the newly introduced particles so you may not gain anything by running 2 seconds without particles.
