What is the function of the "*.SPx" file?

Dear developers,
I’ve never understood the function of the “*.SPx” files. What they can be used for. They are usually very large and takes up a lot of hard disk memory.
In addition, I have set a folder named “AAA” in the Output menu, but the AAA folder does not appear in the current directory of the case, why? Can the .csv file obtained through Monitors function be stored in a specified folder?
Thanks and happy new year!

Happy New Year!

The SP* files are the legacy Single Precision files that were used for post-processing with postmfix. We seldom use these anymore and it is recommended to save VTK files instead. So you can set a large value for all SPx files write intervals.

Similarly the ASCII particle data is a legacy file and you should use the binary VTK file instead. You can specify the VTK directory in the Output>Basic pane.

Monitors are stored directly in the project directory, there is no option to set a different path.

OK, this is helpful, thank you!

Note that you can leave the write interval for SPX files undefined, this has the same effect as setting it to a large number
