Zigzag/sinusoidal geometry sketch

Hey, I want to simulate a zigzag or sinusoidal 2D channel geometry in Mfix. Since imported stl cannot be used in 2D simulation. Is it possible to draw such shape within Mfix GUI? Thanks

Hi, this topic has been discussed previously on the MFiX forum. There is no “drawing” capability in MFiX. But you can do a pseudo-2d simulation by having a 3d simulation with only one cell in the Z direction. Please refer to these posts: (found by searching for “STL 2D”

STL method for 2D

Hello, I am trying to simulate a rotating drum as the one in dem tutorials, but i would like to do it in 2D, however, i get a message error telling me that “STL method is valid only in 3D”. Is it possible to use STL method in 2D ??? If not, could anyone give me some alternative tips to create a boundary condition for a 2D rotating drum using mfix GUI ? Thank you.

Hello. Excuse me, I have a question about mfix geometry. How can I draw a 2D tapered fluidize bed? I draw a 3d stl and then I don’t konw how i can use the slice that i want! Would you mind helping me please?
