2016 NETL Workshop on Multiphase Flow Science – Invitation

Dear Colleague,

You are cordially invited to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory’s (NETL) 2016 Workshop on Multiphase Flow Science. This year’s workshop will take place on Tuesday, August 9 through Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the Waterfront Place Hotel, 2 Waterfront Place, Morgantown, WV, 26501.

This workshop will bring together international leaders from industry, academia, and government laboratories in the area of multiphase flow science to discuss current research projects and discuss future research and development needs in the area of multiphase flow science including gas-solid, liquid-solid, gas-liquid, and gas-solid-liquid multiphase flows. Industrial presenters are encouraged to attend and to share their experiences and specific applications in this area.

Call for Presentations:

The goal for the Workshop continues to be advancing the use of physics-based multiphase simulations to help overcome the technical barriers associated with the development of highly efficient, environmentally acceptable energy, environmental and industrial technologies and processes. The conference will cover topics in:

  • Fundamental research in multiphase flow
  • Advancements in CFD model development for multiphase flow
  • Application of multiphase CFD to industrial systems such as fossil fuel extraction and utilization, chemical processes, etc.
  • Novel measurement techniques in multiphase flows
  • Verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification in multiphase flow simulation

You are invited to submit an abstract (around 300 words) for a 15 minute presentation, by June 30, 2016 to workshop@mfix.netl.doe.gov. Final agenda and notification to presenters will follow by July 15, 2016. Due to limited time slots available for presentation, the organizing committee will ask the author(s) to either make a presentation or provide a poster presentation.
The workshop will be Open to the Public and Foreign Nationals may attend the meeting. Only publically available information will be presented.
Please visit our NETL Multiphase Flow Science Website for more information on the workshop and our research program. https://mfix.netl.doe.gov
