C3M v2015-3 Release Announcement

We are pleased to announce the release of C3M v2015-3.  The C3M team has extended the capabilities of C3M to include:

  • A fully integrated symbolic equation interpreter which ensures correct translation of any input reaction equation to all supported outputs. This reduces chances of programming and user error and also reduces code maintenance costs.
  • A revised user defined capability which is easier to use and less restrictive.
  • A user defined module capability which allows users to define their own equation sets outside of gasification as well. Each module (including gasification) is used to define its own solid phase.  Thus the gasification module now only deals with coal and any external chemistry dealing with other solids can be integrated, organized, and shared with the addition of other user defined modules.  All modules can be exported together into a coherent model structure.
  • A fully verified Barracuda writer which utilizes the symbolic equation interpreter to both check rate equations for compatibility with Barracuda and if compatible, breaks the equations into the Barracuda input format.
  • Support for both volume averaged and discrete chemistry in Barracuda.
  • A Barracuda merge capability which can replace the chemistry from an existing project file with the chemistry from C3M.
  • A first generation neural network training and export capability. C3M now includes the tools to train a neural network to learn both pyrolysis and gasification kinetics and the neural networks can be exported to MFiX and Fluent. Users should be aware that this is still a “beta” feature which has not been extensively tested and is still under active development.  Future releases will contain revised tools and methods which are showing great promise.  However, the ability to take a trained neural network and export it to CFD is a big step.
