Abstract: This paper describes experiences in modeling of a laboratory scale fluidized bed Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) equipment. The simulations are carried out by 1.5D model completed by the use of Comprehensive Simulator of Fluidized and Moving Bed equipment (CeSFaMB). The studies, calculations and model validation are performed for a CLC unit. The facility constitutes two cycles: the main cycle and the internal cycle with air reactor (AR) and fuel reactor (FR), respectively. The paper is focused on fluid dynamics in a cold model of a CLC unit. Simulations showed, that the performed 1.5D model correctly describes the fluidization dynamics and can be applied to study the fluidized bed CLC unit operation. The described investigations are a reference point for further simulations of hot CLC test rig since they constitute the first part of the work scheduled in the Polish-Norwegian Research Programme: “Innovative Idea for Combustion of Solid Fuels via Chemical Looping Technology”, funded by the National Centre for Research & Development in Poland.
