Abstract: Mesoscale structures are crucial to the prediction of fluidized beds of Geldart-A particles, which depends on gas-solid interaction and particle collision behaviors. For bubbling fluidized beds, both kinetic and frictional solid stresses affect the dynamics of fluidized particles. In this study, a bubble structure-dependent (BSD) model is implemented to consider the bubble effect in a fluidized bed, where the kinetic theory of rough sphere (KTRS) is incorporated to describe the particle collision effect. The frictional contribution at a high solid concertation is taken into account, where the random fluctuation is introduced in the frictional stress to incorporate the mesoscale effect in the frictional regime. Mesoscale effects on frictional solid stress are analyzed. The results demonstrate that the mesoscale effect in the frictional regime leads to a more intensive fluctuation of the stress. In addition, the effects of particle roughness on frictional solid stress and mesoscale parameters are also discussed.
