Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences visits NETL

Professor Jinghai Li and Dr. Xiaowei Wang from Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPE/CAS) visited NETL on July 14th. Professor Li is a Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. NETL and IPE/CAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May 2009 that provided a foundation for collaborative efforts related to energy research.  In August 2010, this MOU was transitioned into an effort managed under Annex VI of the Protocol for Cooperation in the Field of Fossil Energy Technology Development and Utilization, a framework for promoting Chinese-U.S. scientific and technological cooperation in joint research, development, and technology transfer for fossil energy technologies.  During their visit, Prof. Li and Dr. Wang were given a tour of the multiphase flow science labs at NETL, and Prof. Li gave a seminar entitled “Mesoscience: Enabling Realtime Simulation of Chemical Engineering.” Prof. Li and NETL researchers discussed various areas of collaboration in multiphase flow science. Further discussions for potential collaboration between NETL and  IPE/CAS will be part of a broader US-China collaboration meeting in September 2015 to be held in Beijing.
