The MFiX Development Team

New features:

  • MFiX default solver is available on the MacOS platform: Packages for both Intel and M1-based Macs are available for download. In addition to Conda installation, an alternative Miniforge/mambaforge installation is available on MacOSX.
  • Ability to compute time-averaged data in monitors. Users can control the sampling interval and start of time-averaged data. The rate of change of the time-averaged data can be used to detect pseudo steady state and stop a simulation if pseudo steady state is reached.
  • Ability to save only the maximum force chain per particle (DEM).

Improvements:

  • Displaying the monitor area or volume in the .csv file header.
  • Added particle count as a monitor variable.
  • Improved PIC initialization near rectangular geometry corners.
  • Improved Cp check at the beginning of the run to avoid zero Cp over entire temperature range.

Notable bug fixes:

  • Pure granular flow does not search for gas species anymore.
  • fixed monitor_pmass not being set when selecting "Mass" in a particle monitor.
  • Relaxed grid spacing check for cyclic BCs.
  • Added data check to make sure {IMAX, JMAX, KMAX} <= {DIM_I, DIM_J, DIM_K}.
  • Unset FEDORS_LANDEL when adding a third solid.
