The Multiphase Flow Science Team hosted research associate Alexander Biggs this summer through the DOE’s Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship. Alex’s summer research focused on visualization methods of CFD data using the yt and paraview packages. His project goal was accomplished with a visualization of NETL’s 50kW CLR. The fluid and particle dataset was generated using the MFIX-Exa particle-in-cell model. The rendering investigates the operational state of the CLR just before the PIC-to-DEM transformation was used to bootstrap initial conditions for MFIX-Exa’s exascale challenge problem simulation on OLCF’s Frontier. Congratulations to Alex on a successful summer MLEF project.
