Dear MFiX user,
We are pleased to announce the MFiX 24.4 release. Please download the latest version. See the release note below that highlights the changes from the previous version.
Please visit the MFS forum for any software related questions, or send administrative questions to admin@mfix.netl.doe.gov.
Regards,
The MFiX Development Team
New features:
- New reaction rate specification workflow (Chemkin reaction mechanism).
- Reaction rates can now be defined without the need to write User-Defined-Functions (UDFs).
- Reaction mechanism can be imported from Chemkin text file or manually set in GUI.
- Please see Chemkin reaction mechanism for details about reaction settings.
- Please see Chemkin import tutorial for an example showing how to import Chemkin mechanism into GUI.
- New implicit GSP model.
- Applicable when intra-particle temperature distribution is not needed.
- Faster than explicit model.
- New Force Chain data:
- Tangential force.
- Contact point.
- Solids time step can be specified by user.
- The solids time step for DEM/CGDEM/SQP/GSP is by default computed at runtime based on particle properties.
- New option lets user set value of the solids time step.
Improvements:
- Decreased spacing in DEM seeding when using cubic lattice in narrow domains.
- Reduced excessive CPU usage by VTK viewer.
Notable bug fixes:
- Fixed bugs leading to division by zero or segfault when gas species were defined and no solids species were defined.
